The Most Provocative Contemporary Furniture Ad Campaigns
January 12, 2010Here's our list of the most provocative, exciting, fun and really creative contemporary furniture ad campaigns
Moooi - Erwin Olaf, a renowned Dutch photographer captured Moooi’s 2004 product campaign for modern furniture, accessories and lighting through a daring, racy and artistic style. The photographs featured naked models showcasing key elements from Moooi’s collection among which were the Bold Candelabra Collection designed by Roderick Vos and manufactured through an innovative laser-cut technology; Pantheon Throw featuring mythological patterns and serving a multitude of purposes, from table cloth to an element used to revitalize an old coach; Carbon Chair designed by Marcel Wanders and Bertjan Pot is visually and physically light in lieu of its construction method and materials used (epoxy resin and carbon fibers); Paper Chandelier is made out of none other than paper and yet, its rococo silhouette is interpreted in modern, all-white demeanor making it current and timeless at once.

Edra – The creation of Edra’s recent catalog addition – Edra Special is meant to group the company’s extraordinary products that have necessitated distinctive design ingenuity and diligent production techniques. Historia Naturalis is an upholstery collection designed by the Brazilian born brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana. Drawing inspiration from the Amazonian natural life, the collection is portrayed through the contradictions between sensuality and femininity and the undefined, spineless, frameless seating elements that are neither common in shape nor in their seating experience. Kaiman Jacarè resembles intertwined alligators; Aster Papposus is shaped in a form of a huge starfish; Boa twists around, winding into a sofa-like seat. Just like their shapes, the textured upholstery for these pieces is traced to nature as well including crocodile print leathers, artificial furs, and scaly fabrics.

Leolux – Pallone is an ultramodern chair with a visionary design that is both timeless and forward-looking. Designed by Roy de Scheemaker, Pallone is a direct extension of Leolux’s design philosophy where humor and design are an everlasting combination. Pallone is available as an indoor or outdoor chair as well as a mini (Puppy Pallone), but all-in-all, it is a sculpture with functional disposition. For a limited time, Leolux launched the “Personal Pallone” (supported by its own website http://www.pallonelimited.nl/#/1/) where you avid fans of the extraordinary can customize this iconic chair using vast array of color hues or utilize any of the 11 predesigned Limited Edition Pallone Chairs from inspirational concepts like Big Mama, Baby Elephant, Hurricane, Love Parade and others.

Ligne Roset - Ligne Roset has launched a creative print campaign that personifies its furniture with the help of femininity and grace. Tasteful, colorful and creative, Ligne Roset ads play off the shapes, associations and actual names of furniture and always arrive at an illustrative story that is memorable and appropriately depicts the pieces. Tago Sofa Collection by Michel Ducaroy has been around for 30 years and has become one of Ligne Roset’s cornerstones. The Tago ad ties the sofa to the butterfly’s beauty and grace as well as its versatility as an ever-changing constituent of nature. With the Pumpkin Sofa (designed by the legendary Pierre Paulin), Ligne Roset featured the sofa whose shape may be linked to either its namesake (pumpkin) or a fish tank. Pumpkin’s upholstery further symbolizes a goldfish and features the same orange color, making the ad an immediate metaphor. The imagery in Ligne Roset’s ad for Moel Armchair is immediately apparent in lieu of the armchair’s uniquely shaped, fan-like back…directly tied to the model’s pleated skirt and the fan she is holding. The ad for Lines Bookcase is dominated by the contrast between asymmetry and the linearity of its façade, both of which are observed on the ground, the ceiling and the woman’s dress.
